Assessment Activities:
The assessments will be completed through different methods. Each of the terminal objectives will be assessed separately. The first terminal objective will use either a paper and pencil or online quiz and demonstrations. The second terminal objective will use a video along with a think through exercise and a role-playing activity.
Terminal Objective: Given the work instructions for the daily task, the learner will choose, Inspect, and don the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
During the personal protective stage of the course work, the learner will be assessed using a short answer quiz, a demonstration of how to inspect the personal protective equipment, and a demonstration of how to put on the personal protective equipment. The learner will receive a copy of a sample work instruction either through an online or paper and pencil delivery method.
Sample questions that would be including for the quiz would be:
What personal protective equipment is listed on the work instruction for the hands?
Does the work instruction list and personal protective equipment for the eyes, if so what?
Name at least one other type of personal protective equipment listed in the work instruction?
In order to demonstrate the inspection of the personal protective equipment, the learner will be given personal protective equipment in different states of wear and tear. The learner will be instructed to choose the personal protective equipment that is in the correct state for use for completing the listed tasks on the work instruction. Once the learner has chosen the personal protective equipment they will then be instructed to correctly don the personal protective equipment. This evaluation may be complete through videoing the inspection and donning of the PPE or through a live demonstration.
Terminal Objective: Through observation be able to evaluate and discuss proper use of PPE, safe working choices, and safe conditions.
The assessment for this stage of the learning will be completed through a short answer video quiz and two role-playing activities. The video "The Unsafe Risk Taker", will be pulled from YouTube (The unsafe risk taker - YouTube 2016). Once the video has been viewed the learners will then be asked to complete some activities using the video as an example of poor safety acts and behaviors. They will pick one act or behavior from the video and develop a script to use for a conservation with the risk taker in the video. This script will be completed in writing. Once the script the learners will work in pairs to role play their script with each other. This activity will be video taped for review.
Alternative activities for universal design:
The first assessment can also be done through a verbal question an answer session. The second assessment may be completed through a live role-playing session without recording it. Because of the nature of the positions being trained the learner must be able to read English, see, hear, and be able to use their hands. Accommodations with therefore not be made for these items.
