Absorb Activity
Objective: Observing another Learner working safely, identify the safe working condition, habit, or task.
Absorb activities are those activities that the learner will sit and absorb. These are presentations, readings, stories, field trips. These types of activities are good for when the learner needs information quickly and has had some experience with the topic of the learning (Horton, 2012).

Connect Activity
Objective: When the observer addresses the observed it will be in a non-confrontational manner.
Connect activities are those activities that help in the integration of what was learned to the knowledge that we already have. These include job aids, research, original work, stories by learners, questioning, and ponder-type activities (Horton, 2012).
After you have viewed the video choose one of the unsafe acts or behaviors and think through the possible discussion that you would have with that individual to address the unsafe act or behavior.
How could you start with a positive element?
What could you say to explain the unsafe act or behavior?
How would you explain what the expectation is for safety?
How could you get the Unsafe Risk Takers assurance that they would not do the act or behavior again?
Write down your script for the conversation.
Do Activity
Objective: When the observer addresses the observed it will be in a non-confrontational manner.
Do activities are those that transform what was learned into useful knowledge and skills. Included in this are practice, games and simulations, and discover typer activities (Horton, 2012).
After completing your script work with your assigned partner, videotape your conversation.
Use one of the conversation starters discussed during the classroom phase.
Be direct about the unsafe act or behavior.
Explain the possible injury, illness, or property damage that could occur from the act or behavior.
Explain the expected safe act or behavior.
Obtain commitment from the unsafe risk taker to no longer do the unsafe act or behavior.
